    Urban Master Planned project that started construction in 2015 with the aim of establishing a new concept of city in the northern zone of Cartagena de Indias. This project will offer more than 17,000 residential options for different lifestyles and life moments, these will be integrated with green areas, 30 kilometers of internal roads, 35 kilometers of bike paths, 16 kilometers of navigable channels and 1.6 kilometers of beaches.

    In addition, Serena del Mar includes a high complexity hospital center, educational and recreational centers, housing for all lifestyles and life moments, hotels, commerce and a transportation terminal. In its integrity, Serena del Mar guarantees its inhabitants, visitors and investors, safety, health, education and the necessary infrastructure for a quality daily life.

  • HOSPITAL SERENA DEL MAR

    Hospital Serena del Mar (HSDM) is a high complexity general hospital dedicated to providing comprehensive health care services of the highest ethical, scientific, and technological quality.

    The Hospital Serena del Mar will also serve as a university hospital, providing a hub for advancements in medical education and information.

    The hospital will be operated by Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, a Colombian hospital operator and one of the leading operators in Latin America.  The hospital will be the first in Latin America to be fully equipped by General Electric (GE) providing the necessary recourses to offer cutting-edge medical care and procedures.

    Cartagena’s mild climate and location at sea level provide an ideal setting for recuperation and the hospital building, which was designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie, was planned to create a space that facilitates recovery through quality architecture and integration with nature and green space.

    The HSDM is located in Serena del Mar, a new master planned city in Carta­gena, Colombia.     The firm “Mejia & Villegas”, along with Novus Civitas, develops this project of country houses in Serena del Mar.   • REOPENING OF LA BOCA DE LOS MANZANILLOS

    This project represents a groundbreaking achievement in environmental engineering, one of the most significant in Cartagena in the last two decades. Its primary goal is to enhance the water quality of the Juan Polo Ciénaga.

    Where will the work take place?

    The project will be carried out in the northern area of the Ciénaga de la Virgen, specifically in the Ciénaga de Juan Polo.

    What does the project entail?

    We will reopen a natural water mouth that was once common in the region but has been closed off due to human activities. This blockage has hindered the essential exchange of water between the sea and the swamp.

    Why reopen this mouth?

    The Juan Polo swamp is currently in a state of stagnation, with high salinity and temperature levels that prevent proper oxygenation. This disrupts the ecosystem’s natural development and threatens its biodiversity. Reopening the mouth will restore the vital water flow, improving the swamp’s health and fostering a more balanced environment.
